Riff is a R&B/Pop vocal group from Paterson, New Jersey, formed while its members Michael Best, Steven Capers Jr., Anthony Fuller, Dwayne Jones and Kenny Kelly were teenagers attending Patersons Eastside High School. The ensemble began under the name The Playboys in the late 1980s, with a style strongly influenced by doo wop. After their memorable performance of the school song, "Fair Eastside" in the 1989 film Lean on Me (which is based upon events occurring at Eastside High), the group changed its name to Riff and signed to SBK Records, releasing a self-titled album in 1991. The group scored several respectable hits, including three in the Billboard Hot 100. Riff also landed songs on the White Men Cant Jump and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtracks. Following the success of the album, the group appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show, The Tonight Show and Soul Train (just to name a few), and opened on tour for Vanilla Ice and LL Cool J. The groups second album, To Whom It May Concern, was released in 1993 and had two charting singles on the R&B charts. Collectively, the members of Riff decided to take a break from the music industry after the release of their second album to spend time with their families, as they transitioned into manhood. In 2009, Michael Best, Steven Capers Jr., Anthony Fuller and Dwayne Jones reunited as Riff, sans Kenny Kelly, who decided that he wanted to pursue other interests this time around. The four members began their journey back into the music world, creating new music as they continued to perfect their craft. In 2011, Riff decided that something was missing, so they reached out to their longtime friend, Delvis Damon to join them on their musical journey. He is an accomplished singer, songwriter and producer who has worked with well-known R&B artists such as Guy, Jaheim and Donnell Jones. Delvis has definitely proved to be the missing piece of the puzzle Riff was looking for. Since then, Riff has been back on stage performing for the masses and has had the distinct honor of being the opening act for the legendary, Cyndi Lauper on her “Shes So Unusual" tour in the summer of 2013. Currently, Riff is putting the finishing touches on their third album, "25", which is scheduled for release in Summer 2014.
